This photo always appeared at the bottom of every email Mal sent until about four weeks ago when a woman was offended and had a go at him. Mal was most upset and deleted as his signature.
You have left us far too soon Malcolm. We were so fortunate to have your friendship, support and at times much needed guidance. Lots of wonderful memories. Sailing/racing with Andrea in the river, gulf and offshore. Fiji 1995 was certainly an eventful tour especially when we won the cup. You had those Fijian barman in the Suva Yacht Club wrapped around your finger! They were pouring your next drink before you took your last mouthful of the one that you had.
Having you at our wedding, Isabella's Christening, 30th, 40th, 50th birthday celebrations, beating cancer and house warming parties. Too many to mention. You have just always been there.
In later years joining you for weekend and Christmas cruising. We had an amazing holiday in Whangaroa in 2000/2001 with Dorette and the Wiseguy. Christmas dinner at the Kingfish Lodge! What a great day that was especially when we all had to navigate our return to the boats!
We were so fortunate when we moved to Kerikeri and had you living up there in Opito Bay. It felt like we were family. Drinks at the Kerikeri Cruising Club, trips out on the Commodore, breakfast runs, regular dinners and get together's. We would always cross our fingers and hope that the coffee was served to you hot and your eggs were runny!!! 🤣🤣 Many a cup or plate was returned demanding improvement. We even watched the Royal Wedding together or perhaps we drank while they got married. 😂😂
Isabella loved it when you would come and watch her ride her pony Teddy not to mention teaching her the basics of playing a guitar. Repairing it and tuning it for her meant a lot. Once again your love of music being shared with all. In the absence of her family you would spoil her on her birthday and at Christmas. You were always so kind and generous particularly with your time. Nothing was too much trouble for you.
Since moving back down we loved it when you would visit us up here on the Coast. Pearl would never want to leave. Andrea is really going to miss you from Roberta Avenue. He loved popping in for the best coffee on offer in the Eastern Suburbs.
You are going to be missed and we are looking forward to the time when we can celebrate your life.
Rest in peace Malcolm. Lots of Love from Katrina, Andrea and Isabella Scopas xx ❤️

Mal in the middle. Can you recognise the others?

Lovely words! Think we can all relate to the eggs and the coffee being sent back 😂
