13 February 1952 - 19 April 2020 

Malcolm Wells Chapman, born and raised in Auckland, son to Margaret and Rito. Loving father to Samantha, Danielle and little dog Pearl. Former husband and current friend to Michele. Caring friend to many and lover of music and the seas.

Spending his childhood at Islington Bay, Rangitoto, Malcolm developed an enduring love for all things nautical. He was the owner of several boats including his first rowing dinghy (made by a family friend), Townson yachts Gulf Crest and Dorette, and lastly Commodore, owned during his time in Opito Bay.

Malcolm brought joy to all of us through his music, with outstanding talent on the ukulele, guitar and mandolin to name a few. He enjoyed playing with his daughters and friends, with many of us cherishing special memories of him this way; whether it be on water or land.

Passing at home at Roberta Ave on Sunday 19th April, sooner than we’d expected, we are sad to farewell our dear loving father and friend. Due to current circumstances, we’re unfortunately unable to commemorate his life until a later date, so please upload your stories and pictures of Mal until then.
